WHO I AM

My name is Elena Albergati, I'm a biodesigner and photographer and since I was little, I have grown up surrounded by animals. Usually, I didn't seek them out; they found me, a dog to rescue, a blackbird fallen from its nest, a horse raised in a prison. My favorite activity has always been photographing them.

I have always experimented with photography, capturing people, landscapes, and Nature, but it is thanks to them that I understood who my favorite subjects are. Only they can give me spontaneous, real, and unpretentious shots. To thank them, I want to celebrate their beauty in the most respectful and authentic way I know.

HOW I WORK

I started riding at the age of 5, but it was only 20 years later that I had the opportunity to learn about Natural Horsemanship, a discipline that allowed me to connect with horses by learning their language. A language made of energy, respect, and body communication.

The knowledge of this practice, along with the experience gained from working with horses of different temperaments, also enhances my life as a photographer. It allows me not only to understand the best moments to capture but also to interact with the subjects in the most natural and effective way possible.

WHAT I PHOTOGRAPH

Although horses are my main subjects, as a lover of Nature in all its forms, I am always on the lookout for new models, even the most unusual ones. Not only pets like dogs, cats, ferrets, etc., but also wildlife.

The most fascinating aspect of nature photography for me is that it forces me to tune my rhythms to the slow pace of the non-human world, capturing moments that would otherwise escape our distracted eyes.
